THE Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), announced that a 40-foot Mack-loaded truck fell on a car in the Ogudu area of Lagos State, resulting in the death of a yet to be identified woman who was a passenger in a car.
Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, disclosed the announcement on Friday.
The agency further stated that the car’s driver narrowly escaped death and was assisted by LASTMA officials near the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) estate in Alapere, Lagos State.
However, Taofiq verified that the truck driver and his assistant fled the scene immediate after the incident.
Further investigation revealed that the accident was caused by speeding and brake failure of the Mack truck.
Olalekan Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, cautioned vehicle users, especially truck drivers, to maintain expected speed limit and ensure their vehicles are in good condition.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased woman has been handed over to security operatives from the Alapere Police Station.
