IN A statement, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has taken a proactive stance against fraudulent activities by distancing itself from fake job adverts circulating online.
The advert, purportedly offering positions as supervisors and invigilators for the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASCE) for School Candidates 2024, has been flagged as deceptive by WAEC.
The Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, clarified that the appointment of supervisors if solely prerogative of various Ministries of Education, while invigilators are appointed by schools presenting candidates for the examination.
“WAEC maintains an unwavering commitment to ethical practices and would never require job applicants to provide monetary compensation in exchange for securing employment,” Adesina emphasized.
The examination body stressed that all official job opportunity are exclusively advertised through reputable channels such as daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website: www.waecnigeria.org, and official social media platforms.
Any engagement with alternative websites not endorsed by WAEC poses risks to individual involved.
This proactive measure by WAEC serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against fraud and its commitment to upholding integrity in the recruitment practices.
