THE Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced today in Abuja the release of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made the annncement during a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

He said that a staggering 1.94 million candidates registered and sat for the examination across 118 towns and over 700 centres nationwide.

The examination, conducted in a computer-based format, commenced on Friday, April 19, and concluded, today, Monday, April 29, 2024.

During the press conference, Prof Oloyede revealed that out of the total number of candidates, 64,624 results were withheld by the board.

JAMB’s decision to withhold these results, he said, was aimed at ensuring the credibility and integrity of the examination process.

The board expressed the need for thorough scrutiny to eliminate any issues related to impersonation, mixed biometrics, or other forms of malpractice.

He also noted that the delay in releasing the results was attributed to JAMB’s dedication to ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination process.

“By taking additional time to review the results meticulously, the board aimed to address any potential concerns or ambiguities, thereby upholding the standards of the examination,” he stated.

He adds that with the release of the 2024 UTME results, candidates can now access their scores and take the next steps in their academic pursuits, stating that JAMB reiterates its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination system while trying facilitating access to higher education opportunities for Nigerian youths.
