Rivers First Lady Donate 50,000 Exercise Books to Boost Education

LADY Valerie Fubara, wife of the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has initiated a significant stride towards enhancing education in the state by presenting 50,000 exercise books to the Ministry of Education and the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RUBEB).

The books, aimed for distribution to public schools across the state, were received by the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Chinedu Mmon, and the Executive Chairman of RUBEB, Venerable Fyneface Akah.

During the ceremony at the Banquet Hall Annex, Government House, Port Harcourt, Lady Fubara emphasized the importance of education in advancing and sustaining hope for Nigerians, aligning the initiative with the Renewed Hope Initiative spearheaded by the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

She underscored the significance of prioritizing education under the Siminalayi Fubara-led administration, expressing gratitude for the support extended to the state by the wife of the president.

The event witnessed symbolic handover of the exercise books to education authorities and the distribution of copies to students from various schools in the state with Lady Fubara reiterating the state government’s commitment to delivering good governance despite challenges, assuring the electorate of sustained efforts in critical sectors.

Meanwhile, Governor Siminalaye Fubara, represented by Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering focus on achieving its set strategies, urging professional bodies like the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) to uphold excellence in financial reporting and practice.

Fubara commended ANAN for its role in promoting professionalism and transparency, expressing delight at the association’s choice of Port Harcourt for its professional development programme.

Dr. James Neminebor, the 13th National President, ANAN, stresses the association’s solidarity with the governor as well as its commitment to enhancing professional standards.

He also emphasized the strategic importance of Rivers State in the national economy, saying that’s the reason for their choice of holding the event in Port Harcourt, as the professional programme not only signifies a step forward in educational support for the state’ but stresses its professional attractiveness for laudable engagements and investments, to reflect their broader commitment to progress and development.
