HIGHLIGHTING a severe educational crisis, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has exppressed deep concern over the state of primary education, revealing that 75 percent of primary schools in the state lack teachers, with 90 percent in a state of disrepair.

The governor’s remarks follow a field assessment conducted by the firm New Global, aimed a improving teacher capacity in partnership with the state government. However, the findings were disheartening, exposing a glaring absence of educators in majority of the schools.

Fubara reiterated his administration’s dedication to addressing this pressing issue, emphasizing a focus on education. Health and agriculture sectors.

“Plans are underway to revitalize primary healthcare facilities to ease the burden on overstretched tertiary institutions,” he remarks.

Furthermore, efforts to bolster the agricultural sector are ongoing, with initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities and ensuring food sufficiency while the governor condemned attempts to destabilize his administration, including impeachment threats and persecution of key officials.

In response, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Ubor, leader of the Muslim community, reaffirmed their solidarity with Governor Fubara and commended his inclusive policies, denouncing efforts to undermine the government and pledged continued collaboration in advancing the state’s development agenda.
