FOLLOWING the tragic infernos at the Muna Alamdari Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed the lives of two children, the government has intensified efforts to uncover the cause of the devastating blaze.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, in a release issued yesterday by the Ministry of Information and Internal Security through the state government Facebook handle, Usman Tar, revelations made by security operatives indicate that the perpetrators confessed to receiving payment from certain non-governmental organizations (NGOS) to carry out the malicious act.

This shocking disclosure came to light after an extensive investigation into the incident.

In his response to this alarming revelation, the Borno State Government has pledged to take decisive action to prevent any future occurrence of the outbreaks in the state’s various camps.

A comprehensive investigative panel has also been established to delve deeper into the matter, and the implicated NGOs have been summoned for questioning.

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, state government officials stressed that those found guilty of involvement in the arson attack will be made to face the full force of the law, urging their citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police of traditional heads for prompt action.

The state government’s swift response, the noted, stresses its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of displaced persons within the state, adding that as investigations continue, residents have been urged to maintain calm, peace and adherence to the rule of law as efforts are intensified to bring the culprits to justice and to prevent similar tragedies in the near of far future.
