THE Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has underscored the importance of futuristic policy-making to strengthen governance, particularly in the realm of security, during a recent address at a high-profile security summit.

Addressing participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC-17 Syndicate 5) of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Fubara highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize security strategies and enhance operational efficiency.

The governor emphasized transition from physical to intellectual battles, asserting that AI represents a pivotal tool in combatting contemporary challenges such as crime and terrorism.

Expressing eagerness to collaborate with NISS, Fubara underscored the importance of leveraging AI-driven insights to inform robust and forward-thinking policies aimed at safeguarding the interests of the populace.

He also emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among stakeholders, advocating for a collective approach to governance that transcends individual interests and fosters national development.

In his remarks, Didacus Egor Egbeji, the Head of EIMC delegation of participants outlined the objectives of their study tour, which focuses on exploring the intersections of AI, security and emerging economies in Africa.

Egbeji detailed comprehensive training modules covering security, crisis management, governance, and strategic planning, stressing the importance of leveraging insights gained from the tour to enhance operational efficiency in their respective agencies. The participants are expected to eventually present their finding to President Bola Tinubu through the office of the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, culminating in an executive brief that would highlight key recommendations for bolstering security and governance across the continent.
