BARELY Forty-eight hours ago, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the star of track and field, once again illuminated the world stage with her breathtaking performance, clinching the title of the fastest woman on the planet in the 100m hurdles at the prestigious Jamaica Athletics Invitational.

In a stunning showdown that captivated spectators globally, Amusan left her opponents trailing in her wake as she blazed across the finish line in a remarkable 12.40 seconds. Her victory was not merely a triumph on the track but a testament to her unwavering dedication and remarkable talent.

The race unfolded amidst perfect conditions in Kingston, Jamaica, with Amusan showcasing her peerless technique and lightning speed to outpace the reigning world champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica, who settled for second place with a time of 12.46 seconds.

American sprinter Christina Clemons secured the third spot with a time of 12.54 seconds, as Amusan’s dominance reverberated across the track.

Amusan’s stellar performance shattered the previous world-leading time and solidified her position as a force to be reckoned with in global athletics. Her journey to this historic moment has been marked by a series of remarkable achievements, including setting an African record of 12.58 seconds in Doha and claiming gold at the World Championships in Oregon with a jaw-dropping time of 12.12 seconds.
