UNDERSCORING the paramount importance of education during the 2024 National Children’s Day celebration in Asaba, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State reiterates his undying commitment.

Emphasizing the role of education in shaping the future of children, the governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to providing quality education and skill development opportunities.

Addressing the gathering, Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s focus on enhancing the total well-being of the Nigerian child through education and skill development initiatives and emphasized the need for sustainable and inclusive access to education at all levels, citing investments in school infrastructure and the recruitment of over 2,000 teachers as evidence of this commitment.

In line with the theme of the celebration, the governor stressed the transformative power of education in equipping children with essential life skills and preparing them for adulthood.

He encouraged parents to play an active role in their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of instilling values such as respect, integrity, and hard work from an early age.

He also addressed the challenges facing children in contemporary society, including drug abuse, cultism, and cybercrime and reassured the audience of his administration’s efforts to combat these social vices and protect the well-being of children.

In her remarks, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, wife of the governor, expressed gratitude to parents and teachers for their contributions to children’s upbringing and urged children to cultivate a relationship with God.

She used the platform to announce the launch of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination campaign, demonstrating the government’s commitment to promoting children’s health.

The event, attended by schools from across the state, featured a march past by students and the ceremonial cutting of a celebration cake and also served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of children as it reaffirmed the government’s dedication to their welfare and development.
