Dana Air Cuts Staff Amid Regulatory Audit

DANA AIR, in its response to an ongoing operational audit by regulatory authorities, has announced the termination of several employees.

The airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Ezen, revealed this development in a statement issued on Saturday.

The audit, jointly conducted by Dana Air and regulatory bodies, aims to ensure strict adherence to all aviation standards and regulations. Consequently, Dana Air has opted to temporarily disengage certain staff members pending the audit’s conclusion.

Expressing gratitude to its staff for their resilience and dedication during this uncertain period, the management assured employees that efforts are underway to promptly resolve the situation.

The statement reiterated the airline’s commitment to collaborating closely with authorities to facilitate a seamless and timely resolution of the audit as it also pledged to provide updates and support to its staff throughout the process.

In addition, Dana Air has initiated discussions with lessors and is actively engaging stakeholders in the ongoing progress while appealing for calm and understanding from its staff and stakeholders during this period of transition.

The announcement comes in the wake of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s suspension of Dana Air’s Air Operator Certificate in April.

This decision followed an incident where one of the airline’s planes veered off the runway at Lagos airport after landing from Abuja. Despite the incident, all 83 passengers and crew members disembarked safely.

Regulatory agencies immediately launched an investigation into the incident, emphasizing the importance of auditing the carrier’s operations pending the investigation’s outcome.
