THE NIGERIA Police Force has acknowledged the incident of a recently resurfaced video on social media, confirming its occurrence in 2020.

The Police notes that it has put the spotlight on a street altercation involving two police officers, Cpl Ozimaede Aidonojie and PC Salubi Stephen, from the Ebele Divisional Police Headquarters in Edo State.

According to the Police, detailed scrutiny of the footage revealed the two officers engaging in a public brawl, prompting civilians to step in and separate them.

Such conduct, as emphasized by the Force, is a gross violation of the ethical standards expected from law enforcement personnel.

In response to this serious breach of conduct, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated on May 17, 2024, that both officers have been dismissed in a signed release shared with JKNewsMedia via WhatsApp.

This decision was formalized through a Police wireless signal, reference number CH 6450/EDS/PROV/VOL.3/188, dated April 24, 2020.

The Nigeria Police Force says it strongly condemns the behaviour displayed in the video and reaffirms its dedication to upholding professionalism and integrity within its ranks.

The public is urged to maintain their collaborative efforts with the Force to ensure accountability and foster a secure environment for all citizens.
