PLANS HAVE been unveiled by the Oyo State government to recruit 7,000 teachers for public primary schools across its 33 Local Government Areas.

This initiative was disclosed by Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), during a press briefing in Ibadan on Friday.

Dr. Adeniran announced that the recruitment drive aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s electoral promise to address the shortage of teachers in public primary schools. Alongside the recruitment of teachers, the state will also employ 100 caregivers for the special needs sub-sector.

“In fulfillment of his electoral promise and in response to the needs of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of 7,000 teachers for our public primary schools.

Additionally, he has sanctioned the hiring of 100 caregivers for our special schools,” Dr. Adeniran stated.

Dr. Adeniran emphasized the importance of transparency in the recruitment process, warning prospective applicants to be cautious of fraudsters.

He clarified that no agents have been appointed to facilitate the recruitment, and that all relevant information would be disseminated directly by OYOSUBEB.

“The recruitment process will be transparent and fair. Applicants should not rely on third-party information or fall prey to scammers. All stages of the recruitment exercise will be officially communicated by the Board, with my signature,” he assured.

He also reiterated that no staff member is authorized to collect money from applicants, advising them to seek information directly from the Board.

“We appreciate His Excellency for fulfilling his promise. May he be granted the wisdom to continue guiding the state effectively,” Dr. Adeniran added.

The Board, in collaboration with other relevant agencies, is set to announce further details about the application process soon, ensuring a smooth and merit-based recruitment exercise.
