EMPHASIZING his state’s commitment to creating a secure and conducive environment for investors, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara stated   during the inauguration of the Port Harcourt Electrical Village Phase 1 and the commencement of Phase 2, that these are projects meant for completion.

He noted that the event, held along the KM 17, Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway, showcased a significant private sector initiative brought to fruition due to the favorable business climate fostered by the current administration.

Addressing attendees, Fubara reiterated the strategic importance of attracting and protecting investments, assuring stakeholders that their ventures would thrive under his administration’s policies.

“This project exemplifies the capacity and trust private investors have in our business-friendly environment and highlighting the village as a model for future partnerships. he remarked.

Fubara also recalled his administration’s open-door policy for investors, inviting further collaboration to drive the state’s economic development, saying, “Our assurance to investors was no mistake. We offer a supportive environment where businesses can flourish. Private investment is crucial for our state’s growth, and we are committed to ensuring the safety and success of every genuine venture here.”

The governor elaborated on the logistical benefits of relocating businesses from the congested Okija area to the new Electrical Village. The previous setup, where residential buildings were converted into shops, led to disorganized commerce and traffic issues. “This relocation brings order, creating a centralized, efficient hub for electrical and electronic businesses,” he explained.

Fubara also praised the project’s investor, Revelation Paints Limited, for their bold initiative and successful execution. He responded positively to requests for rental subsidies to facilitate the transition of businesses from Okija, pledging ongoing support to ensure smooth operations.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Isaac Umejuru, applauded the governor’s efforts in transforming Rivers State into a commercial nexus. He noted that the Electrical Village would catalyze economic expansion and urban development, alleviating congestion in Port Harcourt.

Chairman of Revelation Paints Limited, Barrister Emmanuel Ogbebor, provided insights into the project’s vision and scale. Originally conceived 30 years ago, the Electrical Village aims to offer 1,720 lock-up shops, complete with comprehensive amenities such as a clinic, police station, banks, eateries, and ample parking. “Currently, 620 shops are ready, with robust infrastructure designed to support heavy-duty vehicles for decades,” Ogbebor detailed.

Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, leader of the Simplified Movement in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, expressed gratitude for Governor Fubara’s continuous developmental projects in the region, reaffirming the community’s commitment to safeguarding these investments.

Chaplain Jerry Azubuike, Secretary of the Rivers State Electrical Dealers’ Association, echoed the positive sentiments, lauding the governor’s dedication to enhancing the business environment. He urged the government to subsidize shop rents to expedite the relocation process, highlighting the thriving partnership between the state and Revelation Paints Limited as a beacon for future investors.
