PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has named Mr. Olatunji Bello as the prospective Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), subject to Senate confirmation.
‘Tunji Bello as he is fondly called, a seasoned lawyer and esteemed journalist, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He had previously served as Secretary to the Lagos State Government and holds a Master’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.
His career in journalism began at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he held pivotal roles including Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord.
Notably, Bello was a recipient of the prestigious US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and later assumed the post of Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers in 2001.
In addition to his journalistic achievements, Bello has contributed to governance as Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State across different administrations.
President Tinubu also expressed confidence that Bello will effectively lead the FCCPC, emphasizing the agency’s critical mission to safeguard the interests and well-being of Nigerian consumers, saying he expects robust measures under Bello’s leadership to uphold the quality and safety standards of goods and services nationwide.
