PAYING TRIBUTE to the late Towulade of Akinale, Oba Femi Ogunleye, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, has lauded him as an influential leader whose life was marked by significant contributions to his community and the field of journalism.

Oba Femi Ogunleye, a distinguished figure in Nigerian journalism, passed away on Wednesday in the United Kingdom at the age of 79, which marks the end of a storied career and a reign that saw the Akinale community gain recognition both locally and internationally.

Governor Abiodun, in his message to the Ogun State Council of Obas and the people of Akinale, emphasized the late monarch’s impact on Ogun State’s development.

“Oba Ogunleye’s dedication to journalism and his unwavering pursuit of truth set a high standard in the media industry,” the governor remarked. “His tenure as the Towulade of Akinale was marked by relentless efforts to promote the welfare and progress of his people.”

Highlighting Oba Ogunleye’s legacy, the governor noted that his contributions extended far beyond his professional achievements.

“As a traditional ruler, he worked tirelessly to bring development and recognition to Akinale, making substantial strides in improving the lives of his subjects and placing the community on the global map,” Abiodun stated.

The governor’s condolence message further conveyed profound sympathies to the late monarch’s family, friends, and the entire Akinale community. “We share in your grief and offer our deepest condolences. Oba Ogunleye’s life was a testament to the power of service, and his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations.”

Abiodun notes that Oba Femi Ogunleye’s passing leaves a void in both the media world and his community, asserting that his commitment to excellence in journalism and his dedication to his role as a traditional leader have left an enduring imprint on Ogun State and beyond.
