TO ADVANCE Nigeria’s green industrial vision, President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe as the interim Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC).

This appointment is pending the confirmation of her role by the NCCC Supervisory Council.

Dr. Maduekwe, with a robust academic background and over 15 years of experience in climate policy, will also serve as Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on National Carbon Market Activation Plan (NCMAP).

Adding further expertise to the climate action team, President Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Shelleng as the Senior Special Assistant on Climate Finance & Stakeholder Engagement.

Shelleng, who will also act as Secretary of NCMAP and a member of key presidential committees, brings extensive experience from his roles in various financial institutions.

Additionally, Mr. Olamide Fagbuji has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant on Climate Technology and Operations. Fagbuji, a policy analyst and computer scientist, will lead the digitalization efforts at the NCCC Secretariat.

These appointments, effective immediately, are part of President Tinubu’s strategy to enhance Nigeria’s climate action and sustainable economic growth.
