THE OYO State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) will provide health insurance coverage for 10,000 pupils.
Dr. Sola Akande, the Executive Secretary of OYSHIA, announced this initiative during a visit to Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board.
Dr. Akande emphasized the importance of this visit, highlighting the agency’s readiness to enroll and validate 10,000 pupils under the state’s health insurance policy.
He noted that the pupils would greatly benefit from the programme, aligning with Governor Seyi Makinde’s integrated approach to education.
Dr. Adeniran assured that the board would prioritize the enrollment exercise.
He stated that this initiative is a first in the country and could become a model for other southwestern states.
To expedite the implementation, Dr. Adeniran established a six-member committee from both agencies.
The insurance policy will be launched in September with the new school session.
