LAGOS STATE announced it is enhancing its school curriculum using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Mr. Abolaji Abayomi, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, disclosed this at an event at the Education Resource Center in Ojodu, Lagos.

The event honored students who use the Darsel App, a tech-based platform for solving mathematics problems in Lagos public schools.

Abayomi highlighted the event’s goal to improve teaching and learning, especially in mathematics.

Abayomi encouraged students and teachers to use AI platforms to develop their skills.

He praised the partnership with Darsel, noting its positive impact on education in Lagos.

The Darsel App, implemented in Lagos public secondary schools, has over 10,000 student users.

The state plans to expand the app’s use to cover Junior Secondary Schools 1-3, beyond the current JSS 3.

Mrs. Wunmi Tolu-Alalade, Darsel’s implementation partner in Nigeria, stated that over 10,000 students across 100 schools have used the app to solve math problems.

In the 2023/2024 academic year alone, students solved about five million math questions using the app.
