Vision for a Just and Prosperous Nation

Tinubu outlined his vision for a just and prosperous Nigeria, where peace, freedom, and meaningful livelihoods are accessible to all through democratic governance.

He noted the economy’s long-standing issues and the painful but necessary decisions to remove fuel subsidies and abolish multiple foreign exchange systems.

These actions aimed to block greed and undue subsidies that hindered economic growth.

Fiscal Achievements and Economic Growth

Tinubu highlighted significant strides in rebuilding the economy.

Government revenues more than doubled in the first half of 2024 due to efforts to block leakages, automate processes, and mobilize funding creatively.

He noted increased productivity in the non-oil sector and financial freedom, allowing more spending on essential social services.

The state and local governments received the highest allocations in Nigeria’s history from the Federation Account.

Infrastructure Development

Tinubu discussed major infrastructure projects across the country, including roads, bridges, railways, and power developments.

He highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Highway projects, which would open up 16 states, create jobs, and boost economic output.

He noted the resurgence of the oil and gas industry due to reforms and increased oil production.

Compressed Natural Gas Initiative

Tinubu launched the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative to power the transportation economy and reduce costs.

This initiative aims to save over two trillion Naira a month and free up resources for healthcare and education.

Conversion kits and centers are being set up to reduce transportation costs and curb inflation.

Support for Youth and Small Businesses

Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to the youth by setting up a student loan scheme and the Consumer Credit Corporation. He announced additional funding for NELFUND and the Credit Corporation.

He discussed securing $620 million for the Digital and Creative Enterprises program to empower young people and create jobs.

He also mentioned the Skill-Up Artisans Programme, Nigerian Youth Academy, and National Youth Talent Export Programme.

Housing and Food Production Initiatives

Tinubu inaugurated the first phase of the Renewed Hope City and Estate housing initiative, aiming to complete 100,000 units over three years.

He announced the removal of tariffs and import duties on essential food items and medical supplies to drive down prices.

He emphasized the Federal Government’s support for increased food production and the mechanization of farming.
