FG Warns Foreign Nations Against Interfering in Nigeria’s Internal Matters

THE NIGERIAN government has firmly warned foreign nations to steer clear of meddling in its internal affairs.

Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, issued the warning on Wednesday during a briefing with the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong international relations while addressing recent unrest in major cities across Nigeria.

Protests, which have erupted in cities including Lagos, Benin, Osun, Oyo, Kano, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Niger, Kebbi, and Abuja, have been marked by violence.

In Kano, six Spanish nationals were detained in connection with the protests.

Ambassador Tuggar reiterated the Nigerian government’s commitment to working through various reform programs to tackle the nation’s challenges.

He stressed that no country accepts foreign interference in its domestic matters and Nigeria is no different.

The government will take decisive action against any foreign entity found to be supporting the protesters or interfering in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

The minister underscored Nigeria’s dedication to nurturing existing cordial relationships with foreign countries and organizations.

He called for continued international support to help Nigeria overcome economic difficulties and improve the quality of life for all Nigerians, both domestically and abroad.
