THE PRESIDENTIAL Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSU) has launched a series of engagements across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones to address food security issues.

This initiative began with a two-day workshop in Abuja, gathering representatives from Niger, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The focus was on enhancing collaboration among all levels of government to ensure food security.

Marion Moon, Technical Assistant to the President on Agriculture, highlighted the urgent need for coordinated efforts.

According to Moon, the country’s ongoing food crisis stems from disconnects between various government levels.

The workshop aimed to align these efforts and gather feedback on existing agricultural strategies.

Moon stressed that direct engagement with policymakers is essential to understanding the specific challenges they face.

These insights are expected to guide the development of new strategies for the President’s consideration, targeting agricultural improvements nationwide.

The PFSU says it plans to continue these engagements in the South-West and South-South regions in the coming months, aiming to build a resilient and sustainable food system in Nigeria.
