RIVERS STATE Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed strong commitment to completing the reconstruction of the 16.5-kilometer Rumuokurusi-Igbo-Etche Road within the next three months.

This road has been a significant challenge for both residents and motorists, causing frustration due to its poor condition.

On Monday, the governor visited the site to assess the progress.

He acknowledged the importance of the road, which connects Obio/Akpor and Etche Local Government Areas and serves as a critical route for traders traveling between Aba in Abia State and the Oil Mill Market in Rivers State.

For 11 years, this vital road remained neglected, severely affecting those who rely on it.

Governor Fubara expressed his determination to change this, emphasizing the road’s crucial role in the state’s economic survival.

He made it clear that his administration, under the “Rivers First” initiative, prioritizes the needs of the people.

During his inspection, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work. He noted that the contractor’s efforts reflect the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the residents.

Despite the challenges posed by the rainy season, Governor Fubara insisted that the reconstruction must continue to ensure the road is usable as soon as possible.

He reaffirmed his promise to return to the site and ensure that the road is fully operational within the promised timeframe.
