HUNGER AND food insecurity remains pressing challenges in Osun State, particularly among vulnerable groups like women, children, widows, and the elderly.
In a recent outreach event, over 1,500 residents in Osogbo received essential food supplies through a one-day feeding programme aimed at alleviating these hardships.
The initiative took place at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Osogbo, organized under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The effort was designed to provide immediate relief to those most affected by food scarcity.
During the distribution, the Divisional Head of Brand and Communication, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, emphasized the importance of supporting underserved communities.
He explained that the programme is part of a broader effort to address food security across various regions in Nigeria.
“We recognize the critical need for food support in many communities. Our goal is to identify those in dire need and provide timely assistance. The turnout today reflects the ongoing demand for such initiatives,” Nwagboh said.
The food distribution event attracted positive feedback from local leaders.
Reverend Father Michael Domingo of St. Benedict Catholic Church commended the programme, noting the importance of such contributions to the community.
“This initiative is a commendable effort to give back, and it sets a positive example for others to follow,” he remarked.
Reverend Father Joseph Komolafe, the host priest, echoed these sentiments and urged others to contribute to the fight against hunger.
“Even small acts of giving can make a difference. We should all strive to support those in need, regardless of how much we can offer,” he encouraged.
The feeding program continues to make a significant impact, offering critical support to those struggling with food insecurity and demonstrating a strong commitment to social responsibility.
