THE RIVERS State Government has entered into a Public-Private Partnership with Rainbow Heritage Group to develop a 1,000-hectare New Port City in Eleme Local Government Area.

The agreement, signed at Government House in Port Harcourt, aims to decongest Port Harcourt and expand the state’s urban network.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represented by Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Dagogo Iboroma, highlighted the project as part of his administration’s plan to develop three new cities.

The New Port City will be a modern, well-planned area designed to alleviate overcrowding in Port Harcourt and promote economic growth.

Dr. Tonte Davies, Acting Director General of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA), emphasized the strategic significance of the location, connecting key economic zones such as the Onne Ports.

He noted that the development could extend beyond the initial 1,000 hectares, linking to other satellite towns.

The partnership with Rainbow Heritage Group underscores the commitment to transforming Rivers State.

The project is expected to create significant employment opportunities during and after construction.

Mr. Oliver Biedima, Group Managing Director of Rainbow Heritage Group, described the New Port City as a strategic location with the potential to become an economic powerhouse in the West African sub-region.

The project aims to integrate agriculture, industry, real estate, and the Blue Economy, fostering job creation, business growth, and economic revitalization.

Both the state government and Rainbow Heritage Group are committed to delivering the project on time.
