Bauchi Gov Urges Unified Action to Combat Hunger Crisis

THE HUNGER crisis gripping Nigeria has prompted a call for collective action from all levels of government.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged leaders at every tier to join forces to address the pressing issues behind the crisis and improve governance.

His appeal comes in response to President Bola Tinubu’s recent national address, which he criticized for not adequately addressing the core problems driving the #EndBadGovernance protests.

Tinubu’s speech on Sunday advocated for dialogue to end the demonstrations and reaffirmed that the removal of fuel subsidies would not be reversed.

Mohammed expressed disappointment with the President’s address, describing it as insufficient and disconnected from the true extent of the issues.

“The speech did not tackle the real problems we face,” Mohammed stated.

“These challenges are not just the responsibility of the President but require a united effort from all leaders, from national to local levels.”

He highlighted the severe impact in the North, where hunger and frustration are increasingly prevalent. Mohammed emphasized the need for effective governance and a commitment to addressing the root causes of the crisis.

The Governor also questioned the efficacy of recent federal policies and the management of allocated resources. “What has been done with the funds provided?

How are these resources being used to tackle the crisis?” he asked, stressing the urgent need for a coordinated government response to both the hunger crisis and the broader governance issues affecting Nigeria.
