CUSTOMERS OF Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) were reassured Thursday after a recent incident sparked concerns over the safety of their data.

On Wednesday night, the bank’s website experienced a temporary outage, leading to fears of a potential data breach.

This concern was further fueled by media reports suggesting the site had been hacked and cloned.

However, GTBank quickly clarified the situation.

The bank confirmed that while there was an attempt to compromise its domain, no customer data was ever at risk.

According to the bank, customer information is not stored on the website, rendering the cloning attempt ineffective.

“Our website has not been cloned, and there has been no compromise of customer data,” the bank stated, urging customers to disregard the misleading reports.

GTBank’s information security team has been working tirelessly to resolve the issue and restore full access to the website.

The bank emphasized its unwavering commitment to safeguarding customer data, assuring customers that the website would be back online shortly.

The incident occurred just a day after the bank renewed its domain name, which likely contributed to the temporary disruption.

Despite the outage, GTBank confirmed that its mobile infrastructure remained unaffected, allowing customers to continue using their banking apps without interruption.

Several social media users had raised alarms about the situation, but the bank’s swift response has helped to calm fears.

GTBank remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of security, urging customers to trust in its robust measures and not to be swayed by unfounded rumors.
