THE NATIONAL Council of State has thrown its support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, expressing confidence in their leadership.

This endorsement followed presentations from six ministers and National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, during a meeting held at Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

The council’s gathering marked the first meeting under Tinubu’s administration and the first in 18 months.

Convened amidst growing nationwide protests against economic challenges, the meeting sought to address rising concerns over the government’s policies.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, confirmed the council’s decision in a tweet, highlighting the vote of confidence in Tinubu and his cabinet.

Key figures in attendance included former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, along with former heads of state Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar, who joined virtually.

Notably absent was former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

While the full content of the ministers’ presentations remains undisclosed, reports suggest that the vote of confidence might be linked to the recent protests that called for a military takeover and foreign intervention.

The protests, which took place from August 1-10, led to violence in several states, reflecting deep discontent with the current administration.
