GOVERNOR SHERIFF Oborevwori of Delta State committed to a robust partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to complete and initiate significant projects across the state.

He voiced concerns over numerous abandoned NDDC projects in Delta and pledged collaboration to address these issues during a meeting with NDDC Managing Director Dr. Sam Ogbuku in Asaba.

The governor emphasized his administration’s readiness to finish incomplete projects and execute new ones, highlighting past instances where the state had to intervene in neglected federal road projects.

He stressed the importance of aligning development plans between the state and NDDC to avoid duplications and ensure efficient use of resources.

He also called for transparent stakeholder engagement, urging NDDC to prioritize effective project monitoring to guarantee value for money.

Dr. Ogbuku acknowledged Delta State’s role as the country’s largest oil producer and promised a significant share of the NDDC budget for the state.

He proposed a partnership for constructing the Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road, a project expected to boost the state’s economy.

Begins Reconstruction of Okuama Community After Army Tragedy

DELTA STATE has initiated the rebuilding of Okuama community in Ughelli South, devastated following the tragic killing of 17 soldiers.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced this during a meeting with Urhobo traditional rulers and the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) in Asaba.

The governor expressed gratitude to the traditional leaders for their support and for providing relief to displaced residents of Okuama.

The state has awarded contracts for constructing a health center and six classroom blocks for the community, aiming to resettle the displaced residents soon.

He emphasized the importance of the traditional rulers’ role in maintaining peace and security across Delta State.

Oborevwori assured that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working to ensure the region’s stability.

The Urhobo traditional leaders commended the governor for his efforts, particularly in resolving the longstanding conflicts between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh, as well as between Okuama and Okoloba.
