PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has called for an end to the #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria.

The protests, which began on August 1 and were set to end on August 10, have led to widespread violence and property damage.

Prominent opponents such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi had urged the President to address the protesters’ demands.

In his Sunday address, Tinubu expressed sorrow over the turmoil and loss of lives in states like Borno, Jigawa, Kano, and Kaduna.

He condemned the looting of supermarkets and shops, which contradicts the promise of peaceful demonstrations by the protest organizers.

“I commiserate with the families of those who have died in the protests,” Tinubu said. “We must stop further bloodshed, violence, and destruction.”

He emphasized his duty to maintain public order and protect citizens’ lives and property.

Tinubu vowed that the government would not allow a few with political agendas to destabilize the nation.

The President appealed to protesters to halt their actions and engage in dialogue.

He highlighted the need for unity in rebuilding Nigeria, regardless of age, party, tribe, or religion.

He also warned those exploiting the situation to threaten any part of the country, stating that the law would hold them accountable.

Tinubu pointed to recent policies, including the approval of a new minimum wage, aimed at improving Nigerians’ lives.
