DEVASTATING FLOODS have swept through parts of Borno and Bauchi states, leaving many dead, displacing thousands, and destroying property.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed profound sadness over the disaster and extended his sympathies to the victims and the governments of both states.

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio conveyed his condolences to all affected, including the Vice President Shettima, Borno and Bauchi governments, traditional rulers, and the public.

He shared his sorrow for the families who lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods in the unprecedented natural disaster.

Akpabio praised the efforts of the federal government, state governments, and humanitarian organizations working tirelessly to bring relief to the affected communities.

He also reaffirmed the Senate’s readiness to assist in providing necessary support to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and those impacted by the floods.

The flooding, which started a week ago, reached its worst point early Tuesday.

In Borno’s capital, Maiduguri, many residents have been forced from their homes.

In Bauchi State, the flood claimed 24 lives, destroyed homes, and washed away more than 300 farmlands, leaving many residents homeless.
