WITH SEVERE flood devastating Maiduguri, Borno State, creating a significant humanitarian crisis and prompting widespread concern and displacing thousands as well as damaging key infrastructure,
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has conveyed his deep sympathy to Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum and the affected residents.
Governor Abiodun, through his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, acknowledged the severe impact of the floods and emphasized the need for immediate relief efforts.
In response to this humanitarian crisis, Ogun Governor said: “The people of Ogun State stand with Borno during this crisis. We share in their pain and will continue to offer our prayers and support.”
Driven by the overflow of the Alau Dam, have submerged about 70% of Maiduguri, affecting critical sites such as the Shehu of Borno’s palace, the state secretariat, and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and a former Military Governor of Borno State, also extended his condolences.
Marwa praised the ongoing rescue and relief efforts by the Borno State government, federal agencies, NGOs, and volunteers.
He assured residents that they are not alone and called for continued prayers and swift action to address the crisis.
Both leaders highlighted the critical need for coordinated relief efforts and timely interventions to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the devastating floods.
