CHIEF JUSTICE Kudirat Kekere-Ekun will officiate the swearing-in of 87 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the main courtroom of the Supreme Court, marking the formal commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year.
During this special session, Justice Kekere-Ekun will deliver a state-of-the-judiciary address, reflecting on the performance of the Supreme Court and the Nigerian judiciary over the past legal year.
Key stakeholders in the justice sector will also present speeches, including the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Though the Supreme Court began its annual vacation on July 22, 2024, and resumed sitting on September 23, the legal year ceremony adheres to tradition, gathering legal luminaries to discuss and celebrate the state of justice in Nigeria.
