GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI Fubara has issued a stern warning to police officers in Rivers State, advising them against partisan behaviour that undermines their professional duties.

Speaking at the handover of 100 operational vehicles to the Rivers State Police Command in Port Harcourt, the governor emphasized the importance of neutrality and professionalism in law enforcement.

Fubara stressed that police officers are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting lives and property, not serving political interests.

He cautioned that officers who engage in partisan activities will face long-term consequences.

“When you act with bias, it not only harms the state but will also affect your future,” the governor stated.

He urged officers to remember that their actions today could impact their reputation and that of their families in the future.

The governor’s remarks came as he formally presented the vehicles, including Toyota Sienna, Camry, and Corolla models, to the Police Command.

He explained that the decision to acquire these vehicles followed advice from the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu.

The vehicles are expected to enhance the Police Command’s response time and overall operational efficiency.

Fubara assured the Police Command of his administration’s continued support, noting that more sophisticated vehicles would be provided in the future to further bolster their capabilities.

He reiterated that the state government views the police as essential partners in maintaining law and order and pledged ongoing cooperation.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu expressed his gratitude for the new vehicles, describing them as a critical addition to the command’s resources.

He highlighted that the vehicles would significantly improve the force’s ability to respond to emergencies and carry out community policing effectively.

The Commissioner praised Governor Fubara’s leadership and commitment to security, vowing that the police would continue to work diligently to keep Rivers State safe.
