PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu’s recent travels have sparked widespread debate, as the nation’s economic situation remains fragile.
His absence has raised concerns among Nigerians, especially after reports surfaced that he spent nine days in London before heading to France for unspecified reasons.
Not a few Nigerians have expressed frustration on social media, questioning the appropriateness of the President’s extended leave at such a critical time for the country.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has responded to the criticism, emphasizing that Tinubu has the freedom to travel.
According to Onanuga, the President is currently on a two-week personal leave and can spend his time wherever he wishes.
He defended the President’s decision to continue his leave outside Nigeria, arguing that Tinubu remains free to conduct personal or official business while abroad.
Onanuga took to social media platform X to reiterate this stance, stating, “President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave.”
