NIGERIA’s SECURITY landscape is described as undergoing notable transformation due to the efforts of the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

It was noted that over the past year, her leadership has drawn commendation from both security agencies and stakeholders.

Her innovative approach to policing and security management has exceeded expectations, marking her as a standout leader in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

At the 2024 National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) Security Conference and Awards, held in Lagos, Sulaiman-Ibrahim received the NAOSNP Innovative Honourable Minister of the Year Award.

The event also attracted dignitaries from various security agencies, including AIG Adegoke Fayoade, FRSC Corp Marshal Shehu Mohammed (represented by ACM Adeoye Irelewuyi), and Dr. Ayo Ogunsan from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, among others.

AIG Fayoade, during his keynote speech, highlighted the minister’s contributions, particularly her success in aligning police operations with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He pointed out that the Nigerian Police have enhanced national security through the implementation of identity tracking systems, which are pivotal in reducing fraud and improving governance across sectors like finance, telecommunications, and immigration.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim herself emphasized the importance of identity tracking in national security.

She mentioned how, under her stewardship, the Ministry of Police Affairs has prioritized surveillance technologies, communication systems, and ICT tools like the RescueMe App to improve policing efficiency.

She also stressed her commitment to engaging with local communities through townhall meetings to address specific security concerns.

The minister’s accomplishments extend beyond technology.

She has introduced gender-focused policies within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), pushing for greater inclusion of women in leadership roles.

Her efforts have already led to the appointment of the first female officer to a leadership position within the NPF.

It is also noted that Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s career in public service is distinguished by her expertise in conflict resolution, national security, and human capital development.

Appointed in August 2023, she has been instrumental in improving the operational capabilities of Nigeria’s police force through strategic investments and community-driven solutions.

Her leadership has also been said to continue to garner admiration, not only for her innovative contributions but also for her unwavering dedication to the safety and security of Nigeria.
