THE FAMILY of the late Herbert Wigwe has strongly refuted allegations of an estate dispute.
A recent media report claimed attempts were being made to alter the distribution of the former Access Holdings CEO’s estate, igniting widespread speculation.
It suggested that family members were requesting 20% of the estate, allegedly contradicting the will.
In response, the family clarified that no such request was ever made.
They stated that the claims were false and easily disprovable with proper fact-checking.
The details of the estate are publicly available at the Probate Registry, where the will’s directives are clear.
The family also addressed the widely circulated report that alleged Herbert’s father, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, sought to change the estate’s distribution as outlined in the will.
This false report claimed that Pastor Wigwe requested 20% of the estate for himself and other family members, contradicting Herbert’s wishes.
In a statement released on Tuesday, signed by Emeka Wigwe on behalf of the family, the allegations were categorically refuted.
The statement emphasized that at no time did Pastor Wigwe or any family member request such an allotment.
It further clarified that the details of Herbert’s estate are publicly available at the Probate Registry and that a simple fact-check would have disproved the false claims.
The family expressed disappointment at the publication’s failure to verify the facts and urged the outlet to correct the inaccuracies.
They emphasized that their focus remains on healing from the immense loss and preserving Herbert’s legacy, which includes his transformative leadership at Access Bank and his philanthropic work through The HOW Foundation.
Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their son tragically died in a helicopter crash in California on February 9, 2024.
