A RECRUITMENT drive for 1,000 interns under the Ogun Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (Ogun TEACh) to address the shortage of teachers in public schools has been announced by the state government.
This effort aims to fill vacancies in primary, secondary, and technical schools across the state.
The initiative is coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, alongside the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB).
The recruitment process is open to candidates with at least a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a B.A./B.Sc. in Education with a Second Class Lower grade.
Applicants with non-education degrees must possess a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.
For technical college positions, a B.Sc. in Technical Education or Engineering is required.
Prospective candidates can apply via the Ogun State Job Portal between October 16 and November 6, 2024.
Successful applicants, known as TEACh interns, will be deployed to Local Government Areas with critical teaching needs.
Interns will receive a monthly stipend for two years, after which their performance will be evaluated on several criteria, including punctuality, dedication, and willingness to work in designated areas.
This recruitment marks the final batch of the 5,000 teaching interns promised by Governor Dapo Abiodun. The first 4,000 interns have now transitioned into permanent teaching positions.
