TO SOLIDIFY President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle, the Senate has confirmed all seven ministerial nominees following thorough screenings in the red chamber on Wednesday.
The Senate had also postponed the session initially scheduled for Tuesday but later reconvened to expedite the approval process by temporarily suspending its standard rules.
Leading the list of new appointees, Nentawe Yilwatda was screened to succeed Betta Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Additional nominees include Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, and Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, respectively.
Also, the Senate approved Idi Maiha as the Minister for the newly created Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.
Moreover, Tinubu’s ministerial reconfiguration involved dismissals, reassignments, and new portfolios.
Five ministers, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs) and Lola Ade-John (Tourism), were relieved of duties.
Among the ten reassignments, Doris Uzoka-Anite transitioned from Minister of Industry to Minister of State, Finance. In addition, John Enoh, previously Minister of Sports, will now serve as Minister of State for Trade and Investment.
Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, formerly Minister of State for Police Affairs, was appointed Minister of Women Affairs, reflecting Tinubu’s strategic alignment of portfolios with evolving national priorities.
