AIMING TO transform local connectivity, the Rivers State Government has announced its commitment to complete community road projects connecting six communities within the next eight months.
The initiative includes a 9.7-kilometer stretch from Emohua to the East-West Road-Tema Junction, ending at the waterside of Egbelu-Oduoha-Ogbakiri communities.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara revealed that the Ogbakiri Town (Clan) road project will cost N15 billion, with Julius Berger handling the construction.
Following an inspection on Tuesday, Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, confirmed that the government has disbursed 30 percent of the funds, amounting to N4.5 billion, as mobilization payment to contractors.
Governor Fubara highlighted that the road’s completion will improve transportation and bridge access for riverine communities, enhancing residents’ quality of life.
In a related move, he also visited Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic at Rumuola to inspect ongoing projects, including an Entrepreneurship Centre, Staff Office, and Senate Building, noting that 50 percent of the project costs have already been released.
Governor Fubara stressed the importance of these developments in equipping students with vocational skills and praised the institution’s leadership for their commitment to educational advancement.
