NIGERIA’s PRESIDENT, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on his victory in the December 7 general elections.
Tinubu, who is the current Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), expressed confidence that Mahama’s second term will strengthen the region’s stability.
During a telephone conversation with Mahama, Tinubu commended the peaceful conduct of both Ghana’s presidential and parliamentary elections, praising the commitment of the Ghanaian people to democracy.
The Nigerian leader expressed his readiness to collaborate with Mahama’s incoming administration, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and fostering a prosperous future for West Africa.
He also applauded the concession speech by Mahama’s opponent, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which Tinubu viewed as a reaffirmation of Ghana’s democratic values.
Tinubu highlighted Mahama’s previous presidency and his trusted leadership as evidence of the Ghanaian people’s faith in his vision for the nation’s progress.
He also acknowledged outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo for his exemplary leadership.
