CORRUPTION THREATENS the future of Nigerian students, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has vowed to tackle it head-on.
The agency, during a recent visit by students of Britmax International School to its Abuja headquarters, charged the youths to play a vital role in combating corruption and internet crimes.
The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, represented by Deputy Commander Nwanyinma Okeanu, emphasised the Commission’s mission to protect the dreams of Nigerian youths.
“Our mandate is to fight economic and financial crimes, ensuring that every young person has a fair chance at a brighter future,” she said.
Highlighting the critical role of students, Assistant Commander Aisha Mohammed urged them to spread the anti-corruption message in their communities.
“Your voices matter. Stand for integrity and be change agents wherever you go,” she stated, adding that the Commission is committed to shaping the younger generation for a better Nigeria.
Cybercrime and its dangers were also addressed during the event.
Assistant Superintendent Ogunjobi Olalekan encouraged the students to focus on hard work and avoid negative peer pressure.
“You can achieve anything through determination, integrity, and transparency. We need you as programmers, forensic analysts, and more,” he said.
The visit concluded with a quiz contest where two students, Thomas Oluwatosin Akhigbe and Jahdiel Akinrowo, emerged winners.
The participating students each received mobile phones and were named EFCC Ambassadors for their performance.
Okeanu sais the Commission hopes this engagement inspires a new wave of youth committed to integrity and accountability.
