SHAMSEDEEN BABATUNDE Ogunjimi has been named the new Accountant-General of the Federation, taking office on 7th March 2025.
His appointment follows a rigorous selection process, marking a transition as Oluwatoyin Madehin prepares to retire.
A statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, announced and confirmed the appointment.
He notes that President Bola Tinubu approved Ogunjimi’s appointment Tuesday after a competitive evaluation involving top Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.
The release says candidates underwent a three-stage assessment, including a written test, an ICT proficiency examination, and oral interviews.
The process highlights Tinubu’s emphasis on transparency, competence, and excellence in public service leadership.
Ogunjimi, 57, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990, followed by a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
While President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi, he urged him to uphold integrity, professionalism, and dedication in managing Nigeria’s public finances.
