Prostar Backs Menstrual Health Drive with Bold T-shirt Campaign

A SPORTSWEAR brand has joined forces with a grassroots initiative to tackle menstrual stigma and support girls across Nigeria’s most vulnerable communities.

Prostar Sports International has lent its name and customised apparel to the Pad Me A Girl Initiative—a project by Gatmash Media aimed at advancing menstrual health education and access among displaced and underprivileged girls.

The partnership reflects a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with Prostar providing specially designed shirts featuring the initiative’s logo.

Made from breathable, durable fabric, the apparel is both a functional resource and a symbol of solidarity with girls facing menstruation-related challenges.

Theresa Moses, convener of the Pad Me A Girl Initiative, praised the collaboration.

“We’re thrilled to have Prostar Sports International on board this initiative.

Their customised shirts will not only promote our cause but also serve as a symbol of solidarity with the girls we’re working to support.”

Prostar CEO Paul Maduakor emphasised the company’s dedication to community impact.

“At Prostar Sports International, we believe in empowering young girls and promoting menstrual health awareness. We’re proud to support the Pad Me A Girl Initiative and contribute to a more inclusive and supportive community.”

The initiative, which has already reached over 2,000 young girls and women in Abuja and Benue’s internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, distributes reusable sanitary pads and offers menstrual health education.

The goal is to help girls manage their periods with confidence and dignity, free from shame or barriers.

Plans are also underway for the next phase of outreach beginning June/July 2025.

Under the ‘Access PAD Me A Girl’ and ‘PAD Bank’ schemes, Moses said girls will continue to receive free monthly sanitary pads—crucial support in regions where period poverty remains a persistent barrier to education and wellbeing.
