COMMITMENT TO enhance road infrastructure in Delta State are gaining momentum as the government plans to decentralise the operations of the Direct Labour Agency (DLA).
This move aims to improve road maintenance efficiency and ensure the agency delivers on its mandate across all parts of the state.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori revealed the plan during an unscheduled visit to a three-day retreat for DLA personnel at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park in Asaba.
He emphasised that decentralisation would strengthen the agency’s ability to execute projects under the administration’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure development.
Addressing participants, Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the retreat’s objectives and underscored the importance of modernising road maintenance strategies.
He assured attendees that key recommendations, including the decentralisation of the DLA, would receive due attention.
Established to repair and maintain roads across Delta State, the DLA plays a critical role in sustaining road networks.
The retreat, led by the agency’s Director-General, Engr. Emmanuel Ighomena, is expected to equip staff with new strategies for enhancing service delivery.
