PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized Nigeria’s dedication to fostering global peace and stability during meetings with foreign envoys in Abuja.
Receiving the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammed Ahmed, President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s pivotal role as a stabilizer in Africa.
He underscored the longstanding collaboration between Nigeria and Egypt in advancing regional peace, security, and stability, highlighting their joint efforts within international organizations like the United Nations.
Discussions also touched on pressing regional issues, including the situations in the Sahel and Sudan. Ambassador Ahmed conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s eagerness to enhance economic ties with Nigeria, emphasizing Egypt’s interest in boosting trade and investments between the two nations.
In a separate meeting with Major-General Sohail Ahmed Khan (retired), High Commissioner of Pakistan, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of global cooperation in combating terrorism and violent extremism.
He welcomed the High Commissioner’s military background as valuable for expanding security and defense cooperation between Nigeria and Pakistan.
President Tinubu also held talks with Ambassador Athanasios Kotsionis of Greece, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to an open-door policy that fosters collaboration and progress and expressed Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen bilateral relations with Greece and address common challenges through cooperation.
Ambassador Kotsionis highlighted Greece’s efforts to finalize agreements with Nigeria in various sectors, including tourism, technology, and maritime, expressing optimism for fruitful collaboration between the two countries.
