The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police Bayonle Sulaiman as the new Commanding Officer for the IGP Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering (IGP-STFPIB).

Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi announced the appointment in a statement shared on X Thursday.

Sulaiman’s new role follows his successful tenure as Squadron Commander of Police Mobile Force 20 in Lagos State.

He led his team effectively in combating similar issues there.

IGP Egbetokun has tasked Sulaiman with leading the fight against oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering.

These activities pose significant threats to society and the Nigerian economy.

Egbetokun directed Sulaiman to prosecute offenders and deploy resources to prevent economic sabotage in Nigeria’s oil sector.

He emphasized the need for cooperation from all stakeholders and the public to report illegal activities and protect the nation’s economy.
