Relief as Ogun Begins Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Road Reconstruction

Motorists navigating the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway can finally expect relief as reconstruction efforts on the long-neglected road begin.

The contracting firm Craneburg has already mobilized equipment to the site, initiating palliative measures to ease travel while full-scale construction starts.

The official flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction, scheduled for Friday, August 23, will be led by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The project marks a significant milestone, addressing a road that has been in disrepair for over 20 years.

Craneburg’s preliminary work has focused on stabilizing key sections of the expressway, covering areas such as Sango-Ota, Pakoto, Ifo, Ewekoro, Itori, and Obada.

Stone bases have been laid on the most damaged portions, making one side of the road motorable as the reconstruction advances on the other side.

Governor Abiodun noted that bureaucratic delays had previously stalled the project, despite joint efforts by Ogun and Lagos state governments to take over the road’s reconstruction.

He expressed gratitude that, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the federal government finally handed over the road to the state.

The contract for the expressway’s reconstruction was awarded in May, and with Craneburg’s swift mobilization, long-suffering commuters may soon see improvements in their daily journeys.
