By Helen Okechukwu, JKNewsMedia Reporter

A MAJOR step has been taken by the Rivers State government to revive its economy as Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurates the Governing Board of the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency (GBoRSIPA).

The initiative aims to enhance investment in key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and small and medium enterprises.

By fostering a conducive environment, the state hopes to attract investors and drive sustainable economic growth.

During the event at Government House in Port Harcourt, the state’s leadership stressed the importance of strategic economic development.

With Rivers State already leading in several productive economic activities, the new board’s role will be critical in maintaining and expanding this progress.

The Governor acknowledged past economic mismanagement, which had significantly impacted the state’s growth.

Fubara emphasized that GBoRSIPA would act as an economic gateway, creating opportunities and offering a one-stop solution for investors.

He also called on the newly inaugurated board members to focus beyond real estate, which is currently the state’s investment focus.

The Governor encouraged them to adopt innovative approaches, stressing the importance of remaining open to challenges.

The Chairman of GBoRSIPA, Lawrence Fubara Anga, expressed gratitude to the Governor and pledged to work closely with government ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure that Rivers State remains the “Treasure Base of the Nation.”

The board members, including Dr. Chamberlain Peterside as Director-General and Mrs. Tamunoibuemi Life-George as Secretary, are expected to steer the agency towards achieving its goals.

The Governor notes that their inauguration signifies a renewed commitment to bolstering Rivers State’s economy and positioning it as a leading investment destination in Nigeria.
