THE RIVERS State Government has taken a significant step towards development by partnering with the NDDC and other host states to enhance the Niger Delta region.
This partnership aims to implement key programmes and policies focused on economic growth and regional progress.
This initiative was revealed during the FGN/NDDC/IFAD Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises-Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) launch, which targeted Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers States.
The event took place in Port Harcourt, where representatives discussed the importance of collaboration for sustainable development.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Fubara, Prince Nna, the Special Adviser on Civil Society Relations, highlighted agriculture as a key focus.
He stressed the importance of aligning the state’s resources with NDDC efforts to develop agriculture.
He also acknowledged the state’s role in supporting land use policies and emphasized the importance of the Land Use Act.
Prince Nna commended the successful launch of the programme’s second phase, pledging the state’s full support for the initiative.
He also underscored the state government’s commitment to driving economic partnerships through the newly established Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency (RSIPA).
This agency will serve as a platform for bringing investments into the state, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The government urged genuine agricultural investors to take advantage of the conducive environment in Rivers State, ensuring that their investments would yield profitable returns.
The state has committed to creating favorable conditions for investors, promoting growth in agriculture, and encouraging wealth creation.
Notable figures at the event included Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the MD/CEO of NDDC, and representatives of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, as well as the Minister of Finance, Adebayo Olawale Edun.
Dr. Ogbuku reiterated the importance of the project, stating that it aims to break new ground by enhancing wealth creation opportunities and improving food security in the Niger Delta region, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s emergency declaration on agriculture.
