EMPHASIZING his administration’s dedication to the state civil service, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reiterated the government pledge to fulfil all promises made to public servants.
This assurance was echoed during the official swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, as the 20th newly appointed Head of Service, conducted at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.
Abiodun underscored the vital role of the civil service as the backbone of governance, highlighting its function as both the driving force behind policies and the essential link between the government’s actions and the people’s aspirations.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to principles of merit, character, competence and capability in appointing top civil servants, ensuring effective governance and service delivery.
Addressing the workforce, Abiodun assured continued support and provision of necessary tools and conducive work environment to enhance efficiency and effectiveness as he challenged the new Head of Service to uphold the high standards set by his predecessors and strive for excellence in leading the state’s public service forward.
In response, the new HoS, Onasanya, expressed gratitude to the governor for his equitable and fair leadership, and pledged to sustain the momentum of progress and support the administration’s initiatives, including the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme, while focusing on discipline, ethical standards, and revenue generation within the civil service.
Onasanya’s appointment, which took effect from April 8, follows the retirement of Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, the immediate outgone HoS, who reportedly served the state meritoriously.
Prior to his new role, Onasanya served as the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration, brining a wealth of experience to his leadership of the state’s civil service.
